PARENT TESTIMONIALS

"I wish I had words to express my gratitude to you and your staff for the level of care you give my son."

- Michelle

I wish I had words to express my gratitude to you and your staff for the level of care you give my son. Unfortunately all the words I can muster seem inadequate at best. Your care and devotion to what you do changes people’s lives and your passion for children builds the future for all of us.

Thank you for all you do!

"I feel that our lives are richer now for all the love, care and devotion we received while with Day Nursery of Abilene."

- Sophie Rodriguez

I can also remember being a DNA employee and parent leaving my daughter Adria in the infant room at DNA on Palm Street for the first time. Mrs. Olivia Rivera was there with open arms and heart ready to take her so I could get my day started. I knew in my heart she was in the arms of an angel. What I didn’t know at the time was how important it would be for myself and my family to have Day Nursery in our lives. My daughter learned so much from all her teachers at DNA and to this day remembers the little things from field trips to the tornado drills we use to have. My daughter Adria is 20 years old now and it seems like only yesterday she was in the bye - bye buggy waving at us. I feel that our lives are richer now for all the love, care and devotion we received while with Day Nursery of Abilene. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to Becky Dixon, Olivia Rivera, Cookie Hawkins, Candy Swanner, Rosie Silva, Sheena Alonzo, Sophie Pena, Becky Norgan and other teachers (I know I missed some of Adria’s teacher because I couldn’t remember them all) who had a part in raising Adria and helping to make her the loving and caring person she is today.

"DNA has exceeded any expectations that I had and is by far the most exceptional facility that we have experienced."

- Tina Alders

I would like to begin by regretfully informing you that Destany and Clayton Gift will not be
attending Day Nursery after this school year ends in May. Unfortunately, the assistance that I have been getting to help with their expenses expire the end of the month and I am unable to pay the full amount charged and still make ends meet. With that said, I would like to also make sure that everyone involved in Day Nursery is aware of the extraordinary staff and school-ready program that ya’ll have at the Vine St. campus.

I was under the impression that all day care facilities mandated by the state were held to the
same standards and, as a result, were all the same. I have been proven wrong in my thinking, because
DNA has exceeded any expectations that I had and is by far the most exceptional facility that we have
experienced. My daughter attended a different daycare during her pre-school year and while she is very bright and intelligent she has struggled this year in kindergarten because she was not prepared (playing was the majority of their day). I will tell you that I have been amazed at the differences that I have seen with Clayton, who is in the DNA pre-school program. I have made copies of Destany’s homework for Clayton to practice on and there have been several occasions that he has completed the work better and faster than she has. I wish that I could go back and give Destany the same advantages that Clayton has received through your program.

Thank you for creating a loving, caring, and regimented learning environment.

"As a parent; it does my heart good, to hear from my 4 year old daughter - Daddy; I
love school."

- Eric Lund RN

I just wanted to say “you’re welcome” — regarding your thank-you note. It was my pleasure to serve you. I think very highly of you and your organization. You probably don’t hear that enough. As a parent; it does my heart good, to hear from my 4 year old daughter “Daddy; I
love school.” — Or “Daddy I love my teachers!” I really don’t like leaving my daughter any place; but at your facilities — I don’t have a care in the world — because I know she is looked after well. Your staff is wonderful (THANK-YOU!).

"My husband and I believe that Luke’s success is due to the staff at Day Nursery."

- Dinah Miller

When our son, Luke, started at Day Nursery three years ago, he was behind in his developmental
skills. At two years old, he was not talking and was unable to feed himself. Our pediatrician
suggested we enroll him in daycare. We chose Day Nursery because it was convenient, the staff
seemed very nice, and for the diversity. As a first time mother, it was very difficult for me to
leave Luke in anyone’s care. The staff at Day Nursery never made me feel insecure and they
always helped put my mind at ease. They were all very patient and helpful.

Luke’s first care giver at Day Nursery was Renea. She was so wonderful with him. She made
sure to get him involved with the other children and in all activities. Every day she would give
me updates on his progress. When he would show big signs of improvement, not only was
Renea excited but the whole staff couldn’t wait to tell me.

Today, Luke is a happy, well socialized four-year-old. His developmental skills and social skills
are right where they should be. His current caregiver is Shondreal. She is a wonderful asset to
Day Nursery. She has great rapport with the children and the parents. She is great about telling
me what my son is doing well and also lets me know areas that need improvement. She truly
cares for each child and wants to see them succeed.

My husband and I believe that Luke’s success is due to the staff at Day Nursery. The front desk
staff has always been friendly and courteous. Luke’s caregivers have always been kind and
caring. The kitchen staff also has been wonderful. It takes all of these people working together
to make a success story come true.

"He was obviously well cared for and loved. Victor spent his early years at DNA and had many positive learning experiences."

- Noreen White, Program Director, Betty Hardwick Center ECI

I remember like yesterday how I felt on that autumn day when I left my son Victor in the infant class at DNA Ash St. center for the first time. He was only 6 weeks old and I was nervous about leaving him. Ms. Mary told me not to worry about him and to have a good day, as she took him in her arms and gave him a warm smile and a little hug. I wondered if my son would be ok without me for eight whole hours! When I arrived at the end of the day, I found Victor happy and content. He was obviously well cared for and loved. Victor spent his early years at DNA and had many positive learning experiences. He was cared for by a variety of nurturing caregivers, but it was Ms. Mary’s reassuring smile that I will always remember. She was still in the infant room when Victor, now a Cooper graduate, stopped by the Ash St. center to visit. She gave him that same hug and a smile just as she had first done almost 18 years ago. Thanks to Ms. Mary and the DNA staff for the love and the hugs!

"It is astonishing as a mother to listen to what he has picked up and the new vocabulary he has been taught for the day."

- Annie Smalley

As a parent education is very imperative, so I am writing this letter in regards to the opportunity you have presented my son. He is currently enrolled in Day nursery of Abilene on Sherry Lane, and a teacher has been sent to the school to enhance our children's learning abilities. Ms. Kay Cromwell has been working closely with the students every day from 1-4. I have noticed a major improvement in his speech. He is now able to make full complete sentences. He has learned to count, the different colors, and the names of shapes. It is astonishing as a mother to listen to what he has picked up and the new vocabulary he has been taught for the day. What is taking place within the time frame she is allowed to be there is helping to form his mind for the future. Her hard work and effort allows us to constantly challenge Michael and show him that learning is fun. Thank you once again for the opportunity to allow Ms. Kay Cromwell to teach my son.

With Much appreciation,
Annie Smalley

"I knew they were in loving hands, in a positive environment, and getting exceptional care."

- Melinda Roberson

Day Nursery of Abilene is more than a Day Care! I could not have made it without Day Nursery of Abilene! It was not like I was ever dropping my children off at day care. It was a special place for my children to go. I never had to worry about them. I could take them to their class and go on to work and concentrate on my job.

Day Nursery of Abilene is just something you want to be a part of. It's fun and a wonderful experience for kids. We were with Day Nursery for ten years. They have excellent opportunities for parent involvement and are very involved in the Abilene community. Parent meetings on informational topics such as fire safety and obesity in children were also available. The Elf Extravaganza when kids and parents come and make art and crafts that they can take home was a great opportunity for the kids to show off their "artistic" abilities.

Day Nursery of Abilene taught my children manners, table manners, and how to act on field trips, etc. They were also taught colors, shapes, ABC's, letters, numbers, and counting. Both of my children even learned to count to ten in Spanish! The children were also taught songs, sharing, and how to interact with other children. Day Nursery caregivers also work with babies on communicating and signs. Structure and scheduling is also of prime importance at Day Nursery of Abilene.

Child development is a primary goal of Day Nursery of Abilene. They know what a child should be doing and work with them until they are able to do it. Day Nursery taught the basic fundamentals that all children need for the rest of their lives.

"Knowing that my son was happy, safe, and well cared for gave me the peace of mind I needed to concentrate on school."

- Priscilla Rayford

As I mentioned, I couldn’t have made it through ACU without the assistance of Day Nursery of Abilene and its caring staff. As a young mother and college student I had very little money. When my childcare assistance ran out, the staff of Day Nursery of Abilene was able to arrange for me to pay based on my income which was very little. The ladies at the Ash Street Center (especially Mary in the baby room and Jewel in the toddler room) provided excellent care, taught me what to look for in a growing child, and took us under their wing. I have fond memories of his time there and warmly greet any of the ladies whenever I seem them.

"Day Nursery of Abilene provided my boys with valuable educational opportunities, but just as important allowed them to flourish as great individuals!"

- Mindy Patterson

As a working mother, I trust and depend on Day Nursery to take care of my children’s physical, educational, and emotional needs. For over 13 ½ years I have had at least one child enrolled at Day Nursery of Abilene. They are our “family” and care for each of my boys as if they were their own. During difficult times, Day Nursery has been an inspiration to keep spirits high. It is a great comfort to know that my children are being cared for by the best caregivers in Abilene. Day Nursery provides tasty, nutritious meals and snacks for all children. And they sing praise before each meal. The educational experience has put my boys steps above when entering kindergarten. Even my now three year old can write his name! My boys learned valuable educational things, but just as important, they have flourished as great individuals!

"Day Nursery has been a partner in the process of raising our boys and we are grateful to them."

- Dennis and Kim Tarrant

We first took our oldest son, Troy, to Day Nursery Ash Street Center when he was 2 years old because we were dealing unsuccessfully with a biting problem at our former daycare center. Within 2 weeks, Ms. Jean had Troy cured. We are convinced she is an angel sent from Heaven. Not only did she teach him appropriate behavior in social settings, she showed him affection and love while guiding him. That gave us reassurance that he was well cared for while we were at work. His transition into kindergarten was made easier by Day Nursery staff and their commitment to teaching children, not just caring for their needs. Now he is almost out of high school and doing well. When the Cedar Street location opened in downtown, we transferred Troy there for convenience to our jobs where he formed some lasting friendships. Later, Troy’s little brother Clay joined him. Every day, we were greeted with smiles and the staff told us stories of the boys’ activities, good or bad. When you are a working mom, it is such a thrill to hear about the kind of day your children had. We were always pleased with the cleanliness of the facilities and the way the staff bent-over backwards to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied our boys were okay. Day Nursery has been a partner in the process of raising our boys and we are grateful to them.
